Specialisation Human Resource Management and Organisational Design

Zielsetzung

Students get in touch with fundamental of organisational design and development. They gain an overview over the complexity of social systems and know about principles if modern organizations and networks.


Students are enabled to see and reflect on the interfaces to Strategy and Human Resource Management.


Students learn to apply the gain knowledge to different situations and to critically reflect on the results.


Students are able to deepen their organization-specific knowledge in a self-responsible way.


They can articulate grounded positions and are able to present the outcomes of analysis and discussion in a structured way.

Seminar (4 SWS, contact time: 60 hrs, face-to-face, day and evening courses)

Lernergebnisse und Kompetenzen

By the end of this course students will have developed the especially following competencies:


LEG 1: Students know models of traditional and modern organization. They are able to describe different models and theories in depth.


LEG 2: Students can come up with context-specific judgements of organizational matters and are able to select suitable models to analyze and develop organizational structures.


LEG 3: Students are able to apply methods/concepts of organizational studies to specific situations, are able to compare different impacts of methods/theories and are capable to develop situation-specific recommendations for organizational design.


LEG 4: Students can analyze and discuss organizational problems critically and differentiated. They are able to present their position in a structured way.


LEG 5: In team-work students analyze areas of organizational design. Conflicting points of view are discussed in order to and jointly develop structured outcomes/implications for organizational development.

Verwendbarkeit des Moduls

Prerequisite for further modules of this specialization, preparation for Bachelor thesis, precondition for master program with HR focus. Programs: Business Administration, IBAEX, DFS, IBMAN, Economics, Unternehmensgründung und -nachfolge

Bemerkung

Verification of competence acquisition:


Competence acquisition is proofed by a combined exam. It consists of team-presentation (30%) and a written exam (70%, 90 minutes)


The written exam consists of different tasks. These tasks combine


- Knowledge-based questions which ask for structural presentation of concepts and theories


- Questions regarding deeper understanding to analyze and adapt to specific situational variables


- Application of expertise, in which students are ask to apply methods/systematics, critically reflect them, and develop analysis-driven implications for organizational design.
